A major sci-fi event is being staged in Norwich this September, with several TV stars attending.

The charity event, put on by the Norwich Sci-Fi Club, has also attracted a new sponsor, UK Conventions Limited, which promotes sci-fi events and operates an online sci-fi news network and sci-fi shops.

The event will feature appearances by Chris Barrie and Robert Llewellyn from the TV series Red Dwarf, and also by Doctor Who stars Colin Baker, Sophie Aldred and Frazer Hines.

"This is a major attraction on the national sci-fi circuit, and we are excited about sponsoring it," said Robert Dyer of UK Conventions. "It will be the fourth charity NOR-CON event staged by the Norwich Sci-Fi Club, and is set to be the biggest so far. With several sci-fi celebrities attending, and a host of other attractions, we expect visitors from all over the UK."

The event, NOR-CON IV, will be taking place on Sunday September 8th at the Holiday Inn - Norwich North, and will be open from 9:30am to 5:00pm.

Local charity Nelson's Journey which provides support for children suffering from bereavement will benefit from the event, which is operated by volunteers from the Norwich Sci-Fi Club. As part of the sponsorship arrangement, the group will get a new website provided by UK Conventions, which has been established for 12 years and is one of Britain's leading sci-fi news sources and merchandising specialists.
